Dreambooth Documentation

Paper Sizes

Dreambooth supports every paper size your printer driver reports. That includes all common photobooth formats and any custom size — width and height are passed straight through to the print job. Configuration lives in Printer Settings → Page Size.

Supported Sizes at a Glance

Paper sizes Dreambooth handles out of the box

SizeTierTypical use
4R (4×6" / 102×152 mm)RecommendedThe photobooth standard. Single prints, 2-up strips, 4-up grids. Works on every recommended printer.
2R (2×3" / 51×76 mm)StableWallet / strip cuts. Often produced by cutting a 4R sheet, or printed natively on smaller media.
Strip (2×6" / 51×152 mm)StableClassic photobooth strip layout. Printed natively or cut from 4R.
5×7" (127×178 mm)StablePremium frames. Supported on DNP DS620A and similar mid-range dye-subs.
6×8" / 6×9"StableLarger landscape prints. DNP DS620A covers up to 6×8; for bigger formats, an A4-capable photo inkjet like the Epson L8050 is the practical choice.
A4 (210×297 mm)StableNewspaper layouts and full-page frames. Photobooth dye-subs cap at 6×9, so A4 typically means a photo inkjet — the Epson L8050 is the go-to in our fleet.
A4 NewspaperStableSame A4 sheet, designed as a newspaper-style frame layout. See the Newspaper mode in Projects.
A3 (297×420 mm)StableLarge-format event prints. Requires an A3-capable printer.
Custom (any dimensions)StableWhatever the driver exposes, Dreambooth can use. Set width and height in mm or inches in Printer Settings.

Match Paper to Mode

Different capture modes and frame designs work better with specific paper sizes:

  • Classic Mode → 4R or strip — Captures land on a 4R sheet, often as a 2-up vertical strip.
  • Frame Mode → matches the frame — Each frame in the dashboard declares its target paper size. The booth picks the printer / size automatically.
  • Self-photo Mode → no paper — Self-photo is a video capture; output is digital (cloud gallery, QR delivery), not printed.
  • Newspaper layouts → A4 or A3 — Bigger sheets make the editorial style readable.

Mixing Sizes at One Booth

You don't have to pick a single size. Two common setups:

  • Two printers, two sizes. DNP DS-RX1 for 4R + Epson L8050 for A4 / A3 newspaper layouts. Frames route automatically. (This is the most common combination in our active fleet.)
  • One printer, two sizes. Install the same printer twice in Windows and assign each instance a different page size — see One Physical Printer, Two Configs.

Custom Sizes

If your printer supports a non-standard size — say, 160×100 mm for a specific giveaway frame — open Printer Settings → Page Size → Custom and enter the dimensions. Dreambooth passes them straight to the driver. The frame designer in the dashboard accepts custom sizes too, so you can design exactly to the cut.
