Screen Saver

Dreambooth's screen saver plays a full-screen looping video after the booth has been idle for a configurable timeout, then wakes on any input. It's the simplest way to draw walk-up customers when the booth is sitting empty between sessions.

What It Does

  • Plays a video on idle. After the configured idle timeout (default 60 s) the welcome screen is replaced by a full-screen looping video.
  • Wakes on any input. A click, tap, key, or mouse movement returns to the welcome screen instantly.
  • Coordinates with the camera. When idle, the camera can auto-eject (disconnect) to save bulb / shutter wear, then reconnects on wake.
  • Custom per project. Each project in the dashboard can specify its own attractor video URL.

Configure Screen Saver

In the Photobooth App, open Settings → Screen Saver:

  • Enable Screen Saver — On/off toggle.
  • Idle Timeout — Seconds of inactivity before the video starts. Default 60. Lower for high-traffic events; higher for quieter venues.
  • Custom Video URL — Set per project from the dashboard. Falls back to a default video when unset.

For project-level configuration of the attractor video, see Projects.

Best Practices

  • Use a short, looping video. 10–30 seconds works best — it loops cleanly and keeps file size reasonable.
  • Show people interacting with the booth. A faces-and-laughter video pulls customers in better than abstract motion.
  • Add subtle on-screen text. "Tap to start" or "Coba sekarang" near the bottom helps walk-ups know what to do.
  • Match the resolution to the booth screen. 1080p is standard; 4K only if your screen and PC handle it without dropping frames.
  • Pair with auto power on/off. When the booth turns itself on in the morning, the screen saver is the first thing customers see. See Power & Automation.

How It Interacts with the Camera

When Eject Camera When Idle is on (Camera Settings → Eject Camera When Idle), the camera disconnects after about a minute of inactivity. The screen saver coordinates with this:

  • Booth idle → screen saver starts → camera ejects shortly after.
  • Customer touches the screen → screen saver wakes → camera reconnects.

This pairing reduces shutter wear and heat on DSLRs during long unattended sessions.
